FROM VIKOS GORGE TO DRAKOLIMNI

Zagori

An amazing hiking tour that lets every guest explore unique spots of the area such as the Ovires Rogovou in Papigo, Oxia, Skala Vradetou and Skamneli. Guest will also get the chance to visit some of the most well- known bridges in the area, such as the bridge of Kokorou, Kalogeriko, and Paliogefyro. You can also visit the monastery of Agia Paraskevi in Monodendri and the monastery Beloi in Vradeto. The tour lasts for more than six hours and is carried out by our own vehicle and companied by our own guide.

Vikos Gorge

This tour will lead you through the villages of Monodendri and Koukouli and will end in Vikos. Vikos Gorge is a miracle of nature, that holds a world record as “The deepest gorge in the world”, with walls that reach 900 meters high. The natural environment is definitely one worth to explore and admire! The four most famous spots form where guests will have the opportunity to enjoy the breath-taking view to Vikos Gorge are in Vikos village, in Beloi, Vradeto (this village is built at the highest point of Zagori area), in Monodendri (the monastery of Agia Paraskevi) and Oxia. The duration of the tour is 7-8 hours. The hiking takes place throughout the year and has a low level of difficulty.

Drakolimni

Hiking in Drakolimni of Tymfi.

The alpine lakes on the high mountains of Pindos, in Zagori, are very popular not only among the local shepherds but also among climbers, due to the beauty of the natural habitat and of course the myths. The most prevalent one is the dragons’ myth (which were possibly born in the form of alpine tritons), and it is the one behind the name of the lakes (drakos in Greek: dragon, Dragon lake – Drakolimni). Guests can explore the area around Drakolimni on a day hike (usually starts from Mikro Papingo and lasts for 8 hours) or they can stay in the shelter of Astraka during the night and continue their hike in the next morning (starting form Mikro Papingo, hiking for 3.30 hours to the shelter and 1.30 from there to an altitude of 2.150 meters in Drakolimni).

National Park of Valia Calda

An amazing tour to the largest national park in the country, taking place from June to October. Having as starting point the area of central Zagori, we cross through Morfa and reach Vovousa village. Then we take a path to Tiza, Valia Clada and finaly we reach the centre of the park. A professional guide will guide you through the history of the fauna and flora of the area. Then, the hiking team visits Arkoudomera at the springs of Aoos River. The artificial lake that exists there, was created in order to support electricity production, at an altitude of 1300 meters. Later in the afternoon, and after the 8 hours hiking route, the team returns to the hotel.

Scala of Vradeto

Scala of Vradeto was built in the late 18th century to connect Vradeto village with the rest of the Zagori region. It is the largest of the four bridges that have been preserved in central Zagori and was constructed using a method of dry stone processing.
